1539, 52 Week Photo Challenge, Bury House, Charter, Gadebridge Park, garden gate, garden wall shadow, King henry VIII, Old Town Hemel Hempstead, Outline, shadow
This week the challenge set is outline. Not an obvious word to associate with a garden or plants. Then I saw this beautiful shadow cast on a stone wall in Old Town Hemel Hempstead.
The wrought iron gates are at a stone porchway entrance to a walled garden known as Charter Gardens. In 1539 King Henry VIII granted a town charter to Hemel Hempstead and these gates are sited on the historic entrance to an ancient Bury House. It is rumoured that Henry VIII may have stayed at Bury house, long since gone, and handed out the charter as a sign of gratitude. Should you happen to be in Hemel Hempstead the gates are located in the rather lovely Gadebridge Park.
So the image shows the shadow of the gates and in so doing we can see clearly the outline of the decorative ironwork. Take a look at https://daffodilwild.wordpress.com to see a rather juicy take on the word outline.
Enjoy the sunshine today
What a well captured, wonderful image plus interesting post, all suggestive of Hemel Hempstead’s rich history.
I so wish I had your imagination and knowledge Love these emails

I do like this take on OUTLINE. The shapes and texture make a great photo.
It’s been most intriging to see where the photo challenge is taken in different posts – great interpretation here Dorris
