Do you recall that TV host whose line was “oooh shut that door!” I never found this even mildly amusing but it did stick in my mind, unfortunately.
I was taken with these French signs on holiday a number of years ago.

I like the instructive tone of these door signs and so I am putting them forward to Sandra at https://daffodilwild.wordpress.com
These are my take on this weeks photo challenge ‘door’
I hope not to have to step out of my door right now as it is pouring with rain. Still the garden needs it.
What fabulous door signs. I can think of a few more instructions, not always polite, I should like to have in French to hang about my house. Liz
I can imagine!
Lucky you to enjoy rain. What a great take on the ‘door’ theme, these commands wouldn’t have quite the same appeal in plain English.
The rain on Tuesday was torrential here and continued into Wednesday. I will need to get weeding at the weekend as the clay should be a little more workable. I agree the signs in English would almost seem rude. I love the French ones though.
Great entry for the theme Dorris! Very direct instructions.
I bought a sign at Chelsea for my daughter-in-law: ‘please take your Choos off’, it would have been even better written in French, or better still, Malay as J.C. is from Malaysia.
Hee hee I imagine she loved the pun.
I hope she does, I am giving it to her for her birthday later this month.

Great shots, there is some history behind those signs
Love those old instructional signs! And they seem so much more polite in French, don’t they? Great “door” post.
Thank you. The instructions do seem more polite in French, it is such a lovely language.
I can see why you were taken with these signs. The design and the aging combine to make them really interesting.
An odd thing to photograph perhaps but I loved them for their directness as well as their aged beauty. I’m glad you liked them, thanks.
