astrantia shaggy, cosmos purity, filigran vase, in a vase on Monday, lin utzon, mock orange, philadelphus, rosendahl, whiteastrantia major
Cathy at https://ramblinginthegarden.wordpress.com hosts the ‘in a vase on Monday’ meme and this week she has chosen a vase full of white flowers. Her message is about how much she enjoys and is inspired by other blogging friends, do have a read.
I have copied her lead and only picked white flowers today.
Whites here include Astrantia shaggy, and Astrantia major, neither are truely white but close enough. There is a pale pink rose which fades to near white as it opens. I inherited this rose and do not know its name but I do like it for the profusion of petals.
There is a branch of Mock Orange, Philadelphus species unknown. Rather lovely to observe it lacks any scent which is very disappointing. I have added some Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Purity’ a must have annual for my garden.
The vase is clear glass etched white with a pattern of leaves. A few years old now it is Filigran vase, line by Lin Utzon, manufactured by Rosendahl.
As it is the first day of Summer and it has poured with rain it is nice to look at fresh whites. Let me know what you think, do you like all white flowers? Brings Wimbledon to my mind.
Gorgeous whites especially the Philadelphus and Astrantia.
Lovely mix of whites. Interesting to hear your Philadelphus also doesn’t smell at all. like mine. Love the Astratntias!
Don’t all Philadelphus smell then? What a shame – waste of a good shrub/tree…? Good to see your cosmos – my Purity isn’t in even in bud yet, or at least I don’t think it is, whilst the others are all beginning to flower quite nicely. I love the all-white effcet and am enjoying mine so know you will enjoy yours too – thanks for sharing
I love white Cosmos. I’ve got several planted in the garden this year.
It’s a very fresh mix. I love the Philadelphus even if it lacks the delicious scent.
A shame about the unscented Philadelphus but visually the vase is lovely; I love all white vases and often choose white flowers for containers on the terrace as they will glow in the half light in the evening.
How lovely, soft and fresh. Astrantia is such a pretty and useful addition to either a border or a vase. Nice to see two forms featured.
They aresuch a great flower. Love them. Which do you have in your garden?
By coincidence just writing sales labels for NGS tomorrow to sell a few including A. Miss Fugles Form. Very pretty pale pink/white with a nice name 🙂.
Lovely, white cosmos are one of my favourite flowers. xx
Thanks Flighty, mine too
This is so pretty, Dorris – a great, summery bouquet!
Thanks Eliza
If only the weather matched!
Your vase is lovely…cool and elegant, and I love the way you have staged it indoor, with light coming from the side.
Thank you Noelle, as to the staged lighting well I will share a secret with you, it just happened to be coming in through the kitchen window.
Love whites!
