allium, Delft, grasses and chrysanthium, Holland, Hydrangea with roses, in a vase on Monday, mixed bunch of flowers, ready tied
I have had a weekend in Delft, Holland to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We stayed in her friends house and to thank her for showing us where to bike hire, for sharing her local area with us and booking us on a canal trip with bubbly, we got her a bouquet for her vase.
Ready tied, at 9 Euros I liked the hydrangea with grass seed heads.
A token gesture.
A bit of a cheat on my part this week. Still I think it was pretty enough to share with Cathy at https://ramblinginthegarden.wordpress.com
What a lovely way to celebrate a birthday. 🙂 I like those grass seed heads too.
Thanks Cathy I think it was the use of seed heads that caught my eye when I was choosing them, such a good idea
Looks perfect, what a lovely way to celebrate.
Thanks Kate. It is an easy place to get to from Amsterdam and is very pretty. Car free in the centre it is worth a visit.
What a lovely thought, on everyone’s part. Hope you had a really lovely time and that your sister enjoyed her birthday too. It’s interesting to see what went into the bouquet -is the pink thing a ‘Chinese’ aster, do you think, and were those alliums next to it?
Hi Cathy you are spot on Chinese asters and allium. Interesting mix considering the seasonal different timings. Delft is a delightful city, car free in the centre, the birthplace of Vermeer and of course lots of blue and white pottery
Makes you wonder about how or where the allium was grown. Sounds as if it was a lovely visit for you
It was a lovely visit thanks Cathy, I wondered about the allium as well even wondering if it was real at first! I guess they have a way of delaying flowering or maybe they will flower later if planted later ? Don’t know. Interesting.
Perhaps they are like Anemone coronaria which supposedly can be planted at any time of year…?
Yes maybe. Perhaps we should try
Great colour blending and I love the effect of the Frosted explosions in making it a bit mysterious. Delft is lovely, I hope that you enjoyed it.
Thank you , I did, very much. Such a lovely place and traffic free,if only more places were like that.
Lovely way to spend time celebrating. The flowers are lovely.
Thanks Noelle, the bouquets on the market were all delightful . Worth a visit.
You lucky girl, what a treat. Lovely colours in the bouquet.
It was a lovely treat to spend time with my sister and her friends in such a beautiful city. The flower market was full of hand tied bouquets all equally gorgeous. Worth a visit Chloris.
