Before dashing around trying to get a flat sorted I picked some of my favourite dahlias. This deep dark burgundy flower is gorgeous. It has a pleasing depth of colour and a texture which appears like velvet. I can imagine a fabric in this colour and texture, a smoking jacket and draping trousers.
In this crystal creamer it rather brings to mind the C word. You know the one, Christmas.
I suppose I should tell you which dahlia it is, Arabian Night. Now take look over at Cathy s lovely blog to feast your eyes on vases full of home grown flowers.
Have a good week.
Beautiful dalhia, but let’s not say the C word again, at least until October. Some of the stores here actually had Christmas in July sales this year. It’s enough to drive a person insane.
Omg there should be a law against it!
Oh! I really like that. It has a wonderful depth of colour but unlike the dark one I used last week yours seems to glow rather than sucking in all the light. I will look for Arabian Night.
Thanks Christina and do you know I think it as you said earlier quite a difficult flower to put with others as it is so strong. It works with strong lime or orange or fuchsia but Not for the shy and retiring colours
I must try my dark one with lime, you’re absolutely right, it should look great, thanks for reminding me.
Look forward to seeing that combo Christina
Its name certainly suits its colour Dorris, and yes, definitely velvety drapes of some sort, whether its a smoking jacket or curtains or one of those heavy velvet tablecloths. The crystal tankard is perfect for it and makes a great vase
Thanks Cathy
Fab. I just saw this dahlia planted around an octagonal garden behind chocolate heuchera and euphorbia, interspersed with Pittosporum Tom thumb. It is such a luxurious bloom! Good choice
Rich, red like a well matured port….
What a wonderful depth of color! I’m becoming increasingly enamored with dahlias but have to remind myself I can’t collect them all.
Oh yes, a red velvet dress… for Christmas! Love that soft dark colour. 🙂
Oh yes I can picture it.
Deep, luscious, gorgeous! ❤
Thanks Eliza
