amaryllis, blue, blue glass, Cadiz, in a vase on Monday, Mallorca, Spain, white
Apologies to those of you who saw this as my Silent Sunday post.
This is the last flowers from my bargain Amaryllis bulb I purchased before Christmas. A cut stem as suggested by the in a Vase host Cathy.
The blue glass bottle was a water bottle from a cafe in Cádiz last Summer.
The fabric is a piece of hand woven linen, typical of the island of Mallorca. It was an off cut from kitchen cupboard curtains, no doors, in a place Brother in law Dorris used to live. A little blast of Summer.
Have a good week and remember we are nearly half way through February which can only mean that Spring will really be on its way.
I loved the Amaryllis yesterday and I also love the fabric! Good thought about being midway through February – thank goodness. I’ve had enough of it being cold.
You are a sweetie, thanks Christina. I am so tired of the cold the dark and the rain.
I don’t think I’ve ever been called a sweetie before!!!!!!
How funny. First time for everything
The blue bottle paired with blue of the textile piece make the amaryllis all the more special. So is “Brother in law Dorris” the Dorris of your blog’s title or are you Dorris?
Dorris was my nickname at the garden where I work and I thought it would be a good one for the blog, I am really Rebecca 😉
Thanks for clarifying that!
I still advocate these look better in a vase than on the plant and I am glad you decided to cut yours – we have certainly shared in the pleasure it brings seeing it IAVOM. Looks great in the blue bottle – and well done with recycling both the bottle and the fabric!
I agree with you as the bulbs are pretty ugly it is good to see it in a pretty bottle instead.
Definitely – I have a third spike coming on one of mine which will probably appear (again) in a vase very soon!
They are good value, that was a third spike on mine.
Your display is lovely…I really like blue and white together….beautiful bloom too!

Thanks Donna, it is a good colour combination like clouds in a blue sky or waves breaking on a blue sea.
Lovely description.
I agree with Cathy, they look much better in a vase. I love the blue bottle.
Spring feels a long way away at the moment, goodness but it’s cold.
I agree with You and Cathy it is more attractive without the big brown bulb although I do find their roots in water interesting.
And so, so, cold
The blue bottle and fabric are perfect accents. You can never go wrong with blue and white!
Thanks Kris, I think you’re right it is a winning colour combination.
My thoughts exactly Dorris, and by March spring must be here, right? I like the blue and white together – just realised I also have white flowers in a blue vase this week! Hope you get some spring sunshine this week. 🙂
By March it had better be Spring. I had better take look at your Vase
