The snow is the dominant topic of conversation, how could it not be, after all, we are in the grip of the so called ‘Beast from the East’ and ‘Storm Emma’. I have no idea why weather is in need of a moniker, it’s just weather after all.
Yet this weather has been severe and disruptive and for some life threatening and frightening. Here we have got off lightly: it has been bitterly cold with just some snow.
The lane is peaceful save for the creaking sound of snow underfoot.
The willow fencing is dusted with snow and the detail is somewhat more noticeable.
The fire is lit.
A quiet Saturday. I intend to enjoy it before the dirty great slush begins. Now where’s my coat, I had better take the dog out. D.
I can testify that it is fun for about two days and then – boh!
Boh indeed that sums it up Christina. Are you still snowy?
No, heavy rain has washed all away (except where it was piled up by the tractor, but even that has nearly gone). Strong winds continue though, threw the swing chair about 2 metres. The wind is from the west now so not cold
Goodness that was strong wind. Is your chair broken? Come back Spring!
Another chair was blown over too. Neither were broken, thank goodness. I hate the wind!
The wind is scary and keeps me awake when it howls around the chimneys. Glad to hear your chairs survived. Come on Spring
I hope you enjoyed your snowy walk, it looks very pretty.
I did but it was bitterly cold. Nice to be back inside now. Thanks for reading and responding
Nice to read of someone enjoying the snow and not plunged into panic!
Ah thank you Cathy and thanks for taking the time to comment. I think I am lucky here as it has not been too bad. How about where you are?
A week of stunningly low temperatures and now a lot of snow, which is thawing very very slowly. I think there are some spring flowers buried under the snow.!
Thank goodness it’s beginning to go. Those Spring flowers must be gasping for air and light and warmth. Fingers crossed no damage has been done.
I do not remember ever getting weather with a moniker here. We get ‘El Nino’, ‘La Nina’, and a few others that are just weather patterns, but never any specific storms that are significant enough to be named. Our named minor earthquakes get more respect than our boring weather.
I can totally understand why even minor earthquakes get respect!
They are not even weather! A hurricane would be more interesting.
Sitting cosily by the fire is great for a day, but after 5 days I want my garden back. Thawing today, thank goodness.
Oh Chloris I think everyone agrees, we’re all going stir crazy.
