April, chaenomeles x superba Jet Trail, clematis armandii, Japanese quince, Saturday smile, spring in my garden
Planted only last year this little quince is covered in white flowers.
Aptly named Jet Trail this Japanese quince has a trailing habit and is suitable as ground cover.
I have used it to plant under Clematis armandii a white with white spring display.
An evergreen clematis with oodles of flowers in spring. I do like green with white.
Right I am going to try to give the lawn its first cut. Enjoy your weekend. D.
Lovely. Thanks, and you too. xx
That flowering quince is pretty sweet. They are uncommon here. People dislike deciduous plants where we have so many evergreens to choose from. Most flowering quince are remnants of old landscapes.
Time for a resurgence of quince then?
It probably will not happen. A few new cultivars became available here a few years ago, but nothing happened with them.
That’s a shame they have a good deal to offer
I think that they are so much more distinguished that what we commonly grow here!
I can never resist white flowers and what a relief when Clematis armandii survives a hard winter, yours is looking lovely.
ah thanks Chloris. I do love the white and green combinations yet I also love blasts of colour. Armandii seems very content on my south facing completely enclosed terrace.
