anthriscus Ravenswing, Astrantia 'Roma', Geum Totally Tangerine, in a vase on Monday, May, persicaria affinis, Sweet cicely, trollius cheddar
I am feeling that spring is passing by far too quickly as lots of the early flowers are finished. Now the first of the Astrantia and Geum Totally Tangerine have appeared.
There are Persicaria affinis and bisorta. I love the little sprays of Trillium and the umbellifers Anthriscus Ravenswing and Sweet Cicely.
The latest addition is the pale yellow flower Trollius Cheddar a favourite of mine from Chelsea last year. Sorry but the colours in the pictures are not quite right as they are under electric light.
If you haven’t done so already please pop over to Cathy to see the vases today.
There is that geum again. When I featured it, I thought I had something unique.
No it’s everywhere!
What an interesting lot! Especially like the Trollius Cheddar. Will you be going to Chelsea this year Dorris? – oh – it’s Tuesday, you might already be there!
I’m on my way to Chelsea
On my way to Chelsea
Hurray!!!! Looking forward to hearing about your highlights.
Of course. Are you going this year?
No, I won’t be going but I am glued to it on the TV. I think it will be a few years before I go again, wonderful though it is! Enjoy!
Thanks
Tom STuart smith in pavilion is what I am heading to first. That and the cut flowers, grow your own
I’ll look out for them. So much to see.
I love Totally Tangerine’ but it must be the most grown plant in the country! rightly so of course because I know it flowers for ages and is gorgeous.
I know what you mean. It is rather short lived though but it does flower from May to about November. A real performer
I agree, the wonderful summer flowers are going over too fast. Geums are becoming very fashionable and Totally Tangerine is a winner. A lovely arrangement Dorris.
Thank you Chloris
That Geum is gorgeous. I am going to have to buy some seed for next year, as no chance of finding a plant here! The Astrantia is a lovely colour too, and the Trollius is so much prettier than the bright orange ones I have seen here. Have a great time at Chelsea!
Thanks Cathy it was a great day out. Lots to see
Yes, it’s wonderful to have the summer stalwarts appearing, isn’t it? Hurrah for them all – including geraniums too, of course, which I am sure you must have. My TT has reappeared after sulking for a couple of years although I hadn’t realised until you said that geums were generally short-lived. Good to see your selection of latest arrivals and thanks for sharing
Summer nearly here Cathy
Incredible as spring hardly had a minute. I enjoyed Chelsea but perhaps it seems to have lost its way?
I am just welcoming blooms on the first of my seed-sown annuals, Dorris, but hopefully there will be more of them in (less than) a month’s time when the garden opens. I am still catching up with the Chelsea coverage and have not even finished Tuesday’s yet so haven’t got an overall impression yet, but I had heard hints of the same view elsewhere
I will do a Chelsea post this weekend. I think the rhs have lost their way a bit. It was joyful and beautiful but…
I am still behind in watching the coverage but now think I will skip some of the days (lots of other things to do!) – there can be some really interesting interviews or visits to nurseries but I shall have to take that risk!
