2019. Hello. How are you keeping?
I feel as if it is a long long time since I scribbled here on Digwithdorris. I imagine you are perhaps in the midst of an alcohol and fat free period or that you are maybe toiling hard, starting with all those good intentions.
January can be such a beautiful time of year.
January is the one month in the year when you might imagine that there is little to be done in the garden but let me tell you that is a big untruth, January is a great time to get jobs done outside. I have even cut my grass.
For my first post of 2019, I am joining cavershamjj with my Six on Saturday. These are pictures I have taken on one of my daily walks.
Wishing you all a super weekend and hoping you get chance to get out and enjoy your surroundings. D.
Little to be done in January! Oh my! We have SO much pruning! I really can not keep up with it. I still have roses to do. Then I need to get back to the sycamores. Those that get cut down can wait because I am not concerned about their health if they are getting cut down. Dormant pruning is a BIG deal for us.
Exactly. I have fruit trees to prune and roses to finish. Weeds to pull and perennials waiting to be chopped back.
A bit more of that bright shiny thing in the sky would make it easier to drag myself out to do all the things that need doing. Or to go for a nice long walk, come to that. Nice big skies.
Hurray, you’re back Dorris!! What joy to log on and find uplifting scenes of the January landscape in all it’s soft lit glory. January is my month of procrastination; I can see all the jobs that need to be done now, but it’s too cold/damp/dark for me to work up any enthusiasm for them. Instead I venture out to sniff the fragrant air around the winter box and honeysuckle, admire the purity of the first snowdrops and then scurry back inside for a large glass of red wine and the remnants of the Christmas chocolates.
Well thank you. I could not procrastinate any longer. This mild spell has afforded me the opportunity to cut the grass, dead head the collapsed molinias, and even do some weeding. I have started pruning the roses and the fruit trees also need pruning. The wafting scent in your garden sounds heavenly, I shall have to visit soon. Cheers!
I especially like how the sun catches the edges of the grass in your photo with the oak. It looks like it is on fire.
Beautiful photos – what a lovely walk this must have been 🙂
It was over several days but lovely nonetheless
Beautiful pictures. Love the dog going for a walk..looks peaceful.
Thank you. That is Katie a Parson Russell Terrier, doing what she likes best, having a walk off lead.
Gorgeous skies!
