When I left for my trip away, the tulips were just beginning to bud. Two and a half weeks later they are in glorious technicolour.
Delicious marmalade colours in an old Dundee marmalade jar.
Cathy our host of IAVOM always manages to find props to accompany her vases which I rarely do. Today however I have added some origami swans, yes they are swans! The colours compliment the tulip colours and indicate where my trip was to.
Back to the flowers, the tulips are Ballerina, Brown sugar, Avignon Parrot all of which are scented. Belle Époque is the soft smoky pink one. Queen of the Night is the dark one.
Cerinthe has self sown and is flowering beautifully, such an accommodating flower, mixing well with the tulips.
That’s it for me today. Enjoy the short working week if you are lucky enough to have the Easter weekend off. D.
Yes, Marmalade technicolour, although I am not so sure about marmalade the colour of Queen of the Night! Your swans are a delightful prop – I like tinkering with origami occasionally although instructions are so varied and not always helpful, as you might have found yourself. Thanks for rushing home and joining us for IAVOM after your lengthy sojourn.
Couldn’t miss it !
😊
Wow! Those tulips are delicious. What a wonderful homecoming they gave you. Of course they are swans!
I have masses of self-sown cerinthe looking amazing in my garden at the moment – to my surprise it survived the winter and looks gorgeous under the pear blossom of the espaliers (the rest of my garden is a wreck!).
A vision of loveliness, that’s what I should think your cerinthe under the espalier looks.
Oh and I bet the rest isn’t a wreck
HaHa!!! 🙂
I’d love to sit down over a cuppa and hear all about your trip to Japan – it looked fabulous from the pics on IG. I adored Japan and if it wasn’t quite so far away I’d be back like a shot! Did you go on an organised tour? I did a Textile Tour last time, if I went again I’d love to do a garden tour.
Ah that would be lovely Sandra, thank you. I would love to have stayed longer and to go back. We travelled independently which worked well. We visited the shibori textile museum in Kyoto and met a group on a textile tour, that must have been amazing. My sister who sews came home with 18m of silks a vintage silk kimono and obi. It was all delightful.
I’m sure I went to that museum – your sister made a good haul – if I went again I would take an empty suitcase to fill it with textiles! Yes- delightful is a good word to describe Japan. ❤
My sister had a plan from the outset. Her bags weighed a ton. You’ll have to go again.
🙂
I’ve enjoyed your travel photos on IG. The tulips must have been a true delight to come home to. Fabulous colors.
Oh thank you, that’s a nice thing to read. I fear this hot weekend will finish the tulips too quickly
There is barely room in there for the foliage. The cerinthe bloom is barely noticed.
True it (cerinthe) is hidden by the rather full on tulips
