David Austin Roses, in a vase on Monday, old pharmaceutical bottles, Rose "Lark Ascending", rose a shropshire lad, Rose Morning Mist, September
I picked some roses yesterday before the rain came. I divided them amongst the old bottles I have. Do you remember having photographs taken as a child and people would say ‘sit still, smile’ thereby immediately making it a stressful experience and not all fun.
As I took the pictures this morning the petals began to drop and I found myself saying ‘sit still’.
‘Shropshire Lad’ was well behaved, smiling nicely for the camera. ‘Morning mist’ obliged nicely.
‘Lark Ascending ‘ was dropping it’s petals in front of my eyes. Oh dear. Not a flattering picture, should have sat still.
Joining our host Cathy this Monday.
Have a good week wherever you are. D.
Gorgeous roses, gorgeous names – there’s always one that doesn’t behave!
Always
I like the effect of fallen rose petals, Dorris, and like to pick up handfuls of them when they drop outside. I have ordered Morning Mist for one of my ‘new’ areas
Morning Mist is a vigorous grower, you’ll love it.
Fading rose petals have their own special appeal too. 😉 Shropshire Lad is rather handsome.
I wish I could dry them properly. They are lovely, handsome even
Oh wow – very lovely flowers and pics! 🙂
Thank you!
The bottles add an interesting layer to the display of roses. I talk to my flowers when arranging them too.
Oh that’s a sweet thing to do
Hehe, willful little flowers! I really like those vintage bottles, they make perfect vases.
Thanks Eliza. I have a few of them that I have been given after I started using them for ‘in a vase’
Photography was so much more work bac then, and involved developing film! Oh my! In group pictures, there was always someone who was blurred by not staying still. In some cases, they had a slightly (or not so slightly) drunken smile. I certainly do not mean to imply that your roses are . . . . well, anyway, I am sorry I missed your post last week.
There were so many pictures where someone has an eye shut or was talking or pulling a face and by the time the film was developed it was too late. Thanks Tony
