Dahlia Bishop of Auckland, David Austin Roses, in a vase on Monday, Rose "Lark Ascending", rose a shropshire lad, rose Brother Cadfael, Rose The Pilgrim
Goodbye
Said the Bishop
Adieu
dear Rose.
Frost has bitten the garden here. Roses which were still happily flowering have been scarred by the cold.
Dahlias in the ground are now black, finished for 2019. I moved my pot grown dahlia under the shelter of the summer house and saved the Bishop of Auckland for a while longer.
Joining Cathy this Monday. Have a good week wherever you are. D.
Those dahlias are a gorgeous colour.
Still mild here – but oh so wet.
Like velvet but quite small
Aaah, lovely. Glad these survived long enough for you to pluck them from the cold. 🙂
Sorry to hear Jack Frost has been and done his dirty work, making the blooms for this vase all the more precious. They will be back next year though, won’t they?
Do hope so!
Seasons have their ryhyms…the lull of winter, but the occasional winter beauty can have the stage to itself…and we can look forward to a repeat next year. Your last blooms are well worth showing.
I’m not sure we are even in official winter yet and already I am looking forward to next year! Thanks for commenting
A poignant vase! And lovely.
Thank you
Ohh,lovely – especially the Bishop. Spring will be here shortly.
Bishop is a good find
Beautiful and new to me.
Frost must come suddenly. My roses slow down and stop blooming before they actually get frosted. They are still blooming now, but will finish soon.
It is generally forecast but it is always a shock to have it so cold. Enjoy your roses while you still can .
I just featured some of them on ‘Six on Saturday’. I actually would prefer them to defoliate more efficiently than they do. In Southern California, some are still blooming when they get pruned in winter! They defoliate better, but sometimes take their time.
