Today was my first day back at work for almost a month. It was such a tonic to see the garden looking lovely in the sunshine. The dahlias have really picked up a pace and Cosmos cupcake, grown from seed, was covered in flowers.

Other dahlias picked are these

These are all supermarket dahlias which I have multiplied over the years through cuttings. They make a colourful display on the perimeter of the vegetable garden. As they are growing on thin soil over chalk they are left in the ground over winter, under a deep mulch.
These flowers are to share with you and Cathy. Thanks Ali for letting me enjoy your flowers.
Have a good week wherever you are and thanks for reading. D.
Every time I see Cafe au Lait, I have a little swoon!
I know exactly what you mean. Dreamy colour
These are just lovely.
Thank you
Gorgeous Dahlias, love the color mix.
Thank you
I realise I am missing a white dahlia amongst mine after seeing your post – need to rectify that! The collection of vases with different dahlias in looks really effective. Glad to hear you are able to get back to work and I trust things are now easier for you all at home.
Thank you Cathy
I used different vases simply because the stems were such different lengths and well cafe au lait has such a big head. Ha. If you know what I mean
Yes, I was picking dahlias to take down to my elder daughter when we visited and had that problem too – the different lengths, not the big heads! 😁
No big heads here thanks 😉
😁
Your supermarkets must offer much nicer plants than ours do here, Dorris! I love the mix of white dahlias with pink and white cosmos growing in your garden.
Such splendour! All dahlias are beauties but I’ve just fallen for ‘Cupcake’ and will try to get hold of some seeds, they look delicious indeed 🙂
Aren’t they aptly named. So sweet. I find they perform as well as Purity. Hope you find some for next year Annette.
I love dahlias. I used to be able to grow them when I lived in NY, but I seem to have a difficult time with them in south Florida. I think it’s just too hot and too humid for them. Your collection is breathtaking!
Thanks Kevin and although you might not be able to grow dahlias in Florida you have some stunners that would hate it here.
Wonderful dahlias! Are they growing in the garden where you work then?
Yes these are ones I grow at work. Lots of soft feminine colours favoured by the owner whereas at home I grow rich jewel colours and because my soil is heavy they don’t do as well .
Beautiful. I grew Cupcakes this your too and I love them. Café au Lait is such a dreamy colour.
They’re really good performers and such pretty petals
Ah, I like the first one best!
White. Of course
I suppose I am too predictable.
Got it
