Tiny flowers

I sort of forgot it is Monday. Lockdown does that if we are not careful to keep focused. Joining Cathy who is clearly focused and knows it’s Monday and sharing a collection of flowers or foliage from the garden.

My tiny flowers are a white Viola, a couple of sprigs of Forget me nots, Pulmonaria flowers, Brunnera flowers from Dawson’s White and B macrophylla and a single piece of Anthriscus sylvestris or Cow parsley which is just beginning to open.

I have put them in a cut glass cream jug which I got from a bric-à-brac stall some years ago.

They are joined by some mini chocolate eggs.

It is Easter after all.

I hope you have a good week wherever you are. Thanks for reading and do stay safe. D.

cerinthe, forget me nots, in a vase on Monday, pulmonaria, sparaxis, tulips

I hope this Monday, the Easter bank holiday you might have time to pick a little something from your garden to bring into the house. If you do perhaps you could share it with Cathy. Send her a link and you could find bloggers from all over looking at your flowers. What a nice thing to do.

This is a sprig of sparaxis. Bold, bright and brash but small and in its own bottle as it does not want to share space with the others.

The others are tulips, Cerinthe, Forget me nots, Brunnera and Pulmonaria. In shades of white marked with plum to pinks and blues and darkest near black tulip Queen of the night.

A quick post this Monday. Food to prepare, tidying to be done. Happy Easter. D.

In a vase on Monday: blue is the colour

blue, Brunnera macrophylla Dawson’s White, cerinthe major, Grape hyacinth, hyacinth, in a vase on Monday, March, old bottles, pulmonaria, purpurascens

Good evening, I hope you had a good start to your week. It has been a bright, clear day here with a little warmth in a sheltered spot, most welcome.

I wanted to share some of the many blue flowers about at the moment: Pulmonaria at the front, not really blue at all, they are more pink and mauve but they have a blue tone to them and so I am including them.

Grape hyacinth, which some of you love to hate, I have no such strong feelings about them but just like to see their blue colour under the hedge.

Cerinthe major purpurascens are self sown. It does seem early for them to be sharing their glaucus blue foliage and dark purple flowers but I am not complaining.

I planted a dozen Hyacinth in my raised beds this autumn and this colour is sumptuous.

In the bottle marked ‘California fig syrup’ given to me by sister Dorris, is a tiny sprig of the brightest little blue flowers of Brunnera macrophylla Dawson’s White

Cathy will be hosting our flowers gathered into vases, you should take a look and perhaps join us, it is lovely to have garden flowers at close quarters.

Right time to go and prepare supper, have a good evening wherever you are. D.

April, daffodils, Easter Monday, frog, in a vase on Monday, Muscari, Narcissus 'Tete a Tete', Narcissus ‘Rip-van-winkle’, Narcissus Lemon sailboat, pulmonaria, Spring flowers

It is Easter, it is Monday and therefore I was on the look out for flowers and eggs to share with you and readers of Cathy’s blog.

No eggs, this cockerel has sat looking out of the window for about twenty years.

Now he is on my desk with these tiny flowers from the garden. Muscari, pulmonaria and various daffodils.

The two small daffodils are Tête-à-tête on the left and lemon sailboat on the right. Rip van Winkle is the scruff at the back and the large Daffodil is just a regular garden daff.

Held in place on a florists frog, no amphibians were hurt in the process.

I hope you have had an enjoyable long weekend and I am sure you will join me in chanting “rain, rain, go away” D.

blossom, dwarf daffodils tete a tete, Dwarf narcissi, Hellebores, in a vase on Monday, pink primroses, primula lacecap, pulmonaria, tete-a-tete

I have taken some of the sweet flowers from the garden to share with you close up. To put them in a vase is a delicate process as they are so tiny. The vase has a narrow neck and will hold them up.

In amongst the group is a couple of sprigs of plum blossom, dark hellebores, green hellebores, pink primroses, lace cap primroses, a snowdrop, some of the dwarf tete a tete daffodils and a couple of pieces of Pulmonaria.

Close up on my desk they look fresh as well not daisies, but you know what I mean.

Sadly these will not last very well in the house but I shall enjoy them while they last.
Thanks to Cathy for hosting the Monday vase meme at

Have a good week.
