Allium Purple Sensation, Hydrangea paniculata limelight, in a vase on Monday, memories of summer
All that I have to share with my vase, and you, is so last year.
Yet somehow they look golden in the low Winter daylight.
Their former glory captured in a crisp skeletal shape.
The Allium ‘Purple Sensation’ may no longer be purple, the pale lime green of Hydrangea Limelight bleached away to a crisp brown shell, yet their beauty remains sensational.
So for my Monday vase this week my offering is rather weak, frail even. Perhaps some of the many contributors to Cathy’s meme from other parts of the world will have some rather more lively looking flowers to share. Take a look at https://ramblinginthegarden.wordpress.com
Have a good week, wherever you are.
Fragile is still beauty Doris; Although I have some flowers today I think the rest of January I’ll have to be much more inventive.
I think it is going to be very tricky as the month progresses. No idea what else I can use!
Hydrangeas have become my winter muse too, I even think they look as beautiful now as they do in summer. Beautiful still life, so apt for the season. Happy Monday!
Thanks Annette, happy Monday to you too.
The Allium and hydrangeas retain a great deal of beauty as they age. The vase is lovely too. -susie
Thanks Susie, the vase is a favourite having belonged to my late mother in law. The hydrangea are so pretty aren’t they, really pleased I planted them.
Beautiful! I had a friend who decorated her Christmas tree with dried flowers. Hydrangeas and alliums where her favorites.
Thanks Marian. Did your friend paint them first? I know Sarah Raven sprays hers silver and gold before using them for Christmas
Your ghost flowers have a fragile, ethereal beauty of their own.
Thanks Chloris, ethereal is such a good word for them.
Yes, you really notice their intrinsic structure like this. I have planted lots of extra allium for this year as I enjoyed them so much last year
Me too, I have planted about 150 bulbs this year and I think there were some more alliums. Will have to check my notes!
They really do look as though they have been painted gold. Very pretty!
No paint or filters used, all natural. I was surprised by how golden they looked in the light.
Your skeletons look very pretty and I love that vase.
Thanks Kris. The vase belonged to my late mother in law and for that reason it is one of my favourites.
I like your offering. They do have beauty and they suit the season.
Thank you Alison. I do really like the shapes they create.
Oh, how very beautiful, I like the contrast of structures too.
